Completely Nude

For a long time, I stayed away from nude shoes because I am so pale. I thought the nude color would wash me out, but in reality, they are very flattering and elongate the leg. I think they look great with summer dresses, but thanks to Pinterest, I've seen how they can work in many different ways:

I love that nude heels can work with black, jeans, brights, or light colors. I'm into all different types of nude shoes: wedges, heels, flats, and sandals. This summer, I'm adding a nude pair of Tory Burch Miller sandals and then a nude pair of nude Tory Burch flats in the fall. I think they'll be very versatile and look great with my wardrobe!

Completely Nude

Do you love nude shoes as much as me? How do you wear them? Have a fabulous day!

Dear mornings, I {want to} love you.

I am not a morning person by any means. I want to love the morning and be productive before 8 a.m., but that's just not me. I would love to wake up an hour before I need to so I can work out, shower, and leisurely enjoy a cup of coffee as I'm getting ready for work. Although I always have the best intentions, that never happens.

I would say I'm more of a night person, but realistically, I need to start waking up earlier so I can begin getting ready for my work routine (which will be starting soon). I'd like to work out in the morning as well, because I never get it done at night. That means I'll need to wake up around 6:00 every morning to work out, shower, get ready, grab Starbucks, and make it to work on time.

I know my biggest problem is that I allow myself to snooze my alarm until I know I absolutely have to get out of bed. Like I said, I'm a night person, so unless I'm exhausted, I can't fall asleep before 11 p.m. I don't drink caffeine after 4 p.m., so it's not caffeine that's keeping me awake, it's just my internal clock. This obviously causes me problems, so I need y'alls help!

I know waking up early seems so simple--all you have to do is go to bed at a reasonable hour, set the alarm and actually get out of bed, but I need some assistance for my dilemma!

What are your tips for becoming a morning person? Have a great day!

Pineapples & Southern Hospitality

I've always loved pineapples in home decor, but I love their meaning even more. Pineapples represent hospitality and were used by hostesses during the colonial period. Hostesses placed a pineapple on their table when guests were coming for a visit, because pineapples were a sign of wealth and hospitality. They were (and still are) an essential part of Colonial Williamsburg Christmas decorations and can even be found in some of the architecture:

{Click here to read more about pineapples in Williamsburg}

Pineapples continue to be a symbol of warmth, welcome, and good cheer and can be found in many Southern homes. My cousin has gorgeous pineapple lights outside of her home and I've always admired them. They sound weird, but I promise they're very cute and inviting! I've been on a pineapple kick lately, so I thought I'd share some of my adorable finds with y'all:

Door knocker from Orvis

Kate Spade clutch

Earrings--only $9.53 at Asos!

Do you decorate with pineapples? Have a great day, y'all!

Coffee Table Reads

I received an Amazon gift card for graduation, so I decided to invest in some coffee table books that I've been wanting. I love that coffee table books can really tell a lot about the owner's interests and hobbies.

Coffee Table Books

I purchased Garden and Gun's The Southerner's Handbook: A Guide to Living the Good Life and love it! It's a fun guide to the South; it talks about southern cooking, proper party attire, how to throw a great party, and much more! My family is mentioned in the guide, which is also too cool! I also purchased Essentially Lilly: A Guide to Colorful Entertaining and am planning on purchasing Essentially Lilly: A Guide to Colorful Holidays.

Tory Burch recently announced her new book, Tory Burch: In Color, which is available for pre-sale. I'm hoping to buy it soon! My other must-have coffee table reads are a Charleston book (I'd love this one by Rick Rhodes), Kate Spade New York: Things We Love, a book about my hometown, and Domino's Domino: The Book of Decorating

What coffee table books do you love? Have a great day!

Coastin' + Thirsty Friday

I've been loving the look of needlepoint coasters lately. I think they'd make a great hostess, Father's Day, housewarming, or boyfriend gift. My favorites are from Asher Riley and Smathers and Branson.  I'd love a set for a bar, as well! Here are some of my favorites:

South Carolina

And since it's Friday, I'd most likely be sipping on this yummy sangria while I used my needlepoint coasters:

-1/2 cup brandy
-1/4 cup lemon juice
-1/3 cup frozen lemonade concentrate
-1/3 cup orange juice
-1 (750 ml bottle) red wine (I like red moscato to make mine sweeter)
-1/2 cup triple sec
-1 lemon, 1 lime, and 1 orange (all sliced into rounds)
-1/4 cup white sugar (optional)
-2 cups carbonated water (optional)

Mix all together; stir to dissolve sugar, then add sliced rounds for flavoring. Enjoy!

Have a fabulous day!

Decorating on a Budget: My Favorite Places for Deals + Recent Dollar Tree Finds

This week, I've purchased quite a few things for my future apartment, but I think I'm going to break it up over a few posts.

First, here are some of my favorite places to find deals:
Dollar Tree
Home Goods
TJ Maxx/Marshall's
Local home consignment shops

I've found some great pieces on Craigslist that need some TLC, but have great bones. I recently found a cane couch that needs to be painted, but has fabulous bones, and I only paid $100 for it! I'll tell y'all about that next week. I've also purchased a buffet table that I'll probably use as a bar until I'm married or have a formal dining room.

This is what I'm hoping it looks like eventually!

Target, Home Goods, TJ Maxx and Marshall's are self-explanatory. Read below to hear about what I buy at The Dollar Tree.

Finally, I've purchased some awesome pieces from local home consignment stores in my hometown. Honestly, I never buy upholstered pieces, because I never feel like they're clean, and it freaks me out wondering what people have done on couches or pillows that are for sale. However, I love finding chairs, pretty mirrors that need to be redone, or accessories. I found a great bamboo chair the other day for less than $50!

My style isn't "modern" by any means, but I love the look of clear containers and glass. Something about it just seems so clean, especially for storing/organizing items. I love the clean look of Pottery Barn bathroom containers, but I cannot justify spending $30+ on a container.

A hidden gem that a lot of people overlook is The Dollar Tree. I never buy certain things there (such as beauty products), but there are some fabulous items there. I like their unscented candles, votive candle holders, clear vases, wine glasses, plain white dishes, and some of their holiday items. Last year, I was in charge of a few sorority events and found great vases at The Dollar Tree, so I decided to head over to my local store to find a few bathroom containers, and I was pleasantly surprised. There were several different sizes of votive candle holders that would be perfect for holding Q-tips, cotton balls, etc.

I also bought a square holder to make into a pencil cup in my office. A $1 container plus a $2 monogram is a much cheaper version of the monogrammed pencil holder at boutiques. I also made one to be a makeup brush holder (see here).

Here are the two containers I bought to hold my Q-tips and cotton balls! I love the look, and it was only a $2 investment!

Side note: The Dollar Tree also has some cute cocktail napkins!

Where do you find great deals? Have a fantastic Thursday!

"What a wonderful thought it is..."

Everyday Calligraphy is an Etsy shop that offers custom calligraphy prints for home decor, wedding invitations, and gifts. Kristie, the owner, is inspired by "the everyday girl and southern charm." Her prints are so beautiful, and she'll even work with you to design your own custom print. Here are some of her shop items that I love:

Thank you notes

I worked with Kristie to design a custom print, and I adore it! She printed one of my favorite quotes on a pink background with white calligraphy.

Here's a close-up of the writing/print. It's the same pink as her other pink print above.

Right now, I'm in the midst of moving, so I haven't hung any new pictures in my room, so it's sitting on the little stand where I keep my makeup. I love that I see this quote every morning!

What's your favorite print from Everyday Calligraphy? Have a wonderful Wednesday!
