A Change in Plan(ner)s

Last year I had a Lilly planner, and even though I loved it, I didn't think there was enough room for all of the homework, assignments, deadlines, etc. that I had to write in it.

So this year I decided to go with an Erin Condren life planner, and I've been regretting my decision ever since. I ordered the Erin Condren before I saw that largest Lilly planner, but I don't know if I would have ordered the Erin Condren if I had known that Lilly was coming out with a bigger planner.

A couple of things made me choose the Erin Condren. I love the morning, day, and night sections, and I love all of the extra writing room in the back. I also thought it seemed a little more "grown up" and I loved that I could personalize the front with my name.

I  was so excited to get this planner, since I had heard so many rave reviews about them, but the problems began before I even received it! I had a terrible time with the shipping--the company promised my planner almost 5 days earlier than it actually arrived, but never apologized for their delay.

When it finally arrived, I just didn't love it. I'm not really sure what it is that I don't love, but I am almost envious of the girls who have Lilly planners. I would love to switch, but I decided that I should try to stick it out until the new Lilly planners come out so I can get my money's worth.

What kind of planner do you have? Have you tried out the Erin Condren planner? What do you think of it? Have a great day!

  2. I have a lilly planner. It is my very first one and I LOVE it! I have the medium sized one it is nice, but next year I will be getting the Larger one because I run out of room to write assignments, reminders, to do lists, etc.

  3. I have the normal sized Lilly planner and love it - but I have actually been wishing that I had ordered the Erin Condren one! But I can see what you mean about not having enough room....it looks like the EC planner might be better for when we're out of college and don't have to write in all the homework assignments in it!

  4. I wasn't a fan of my Erin Condren either. I take my planner everywhere with me, and even though I carry a large-and-in-charge purse, it was just too big. My favorite that I've found so far is the Moleskin Weekly Planner - it has the days of the week on the left that I write appointments, etc., and lined paper on the right side that I use as my "If nothing else, I must get this done this week" list. I ordered a vinyl monogram from Etsy to spice up the plainness, and it's worked great, despite me throwing it around in my purse.

  5. My issue with the Lilly Planner is no matter what I'm wasting a good part of it. I don't think I like the 18 month. But I don't need anything as big as yours so for now it's Lilly.

  6. I have a life planner, and I love it. I haven't had a Lilly planner...BUT now I want to try one. Once I graduate and get a big kid lawyer job--I think I'll probably switch to something smaller and more 'tailored' or just use my iPhone...but for now I'm a life planner fan :)

  7. I have a Lilly planner for school and an Erin Condren for my life and work planner. I love both of them and I think I will keep this system for my grad school career.

  8. I have the large lilly planner and love it. The smaller one I had the year befor was way too small. I agree with Beth about wasting several minths due to 18 month thing.

  9. I agree with someone who posted above who said that no matter when I get it, I feel like I'm wasting any 18 month calendar. I really like the myAgenda/momAgendas, but I've been using a spiral Orange Circle Studio planner with enough spaces to write assignments and to-dos. Because I harbor a 9 year old inside of me, I love all of the stickers that come with it. Thanks for the heads up on the EC planner.

  13. I have been wanting a Life Planner, I just don't see them being worth the money and your review confirmed my thoughts! I do love my Lilly planner. It adds some fun to my boring school stuff!

  18. i have a life planner. i got my first one last year right after i got married and became a stepmom. i was happy to have a place to organize all of our family activities and liked seeing my new last name and all of our names on it (dork, i know!). i used it like a "command center" and carried note cards, stamps, addresses etc. in it. midway through the year it became evident that we needed a big wall calendar - that everyone could see - for family activities. my EC suddenly didn't get used as much (it didn't make sense to write everything out twice) except to tote around stamps, notecards etc. i got one this year because i was jazzed about putting a family pic on the front, but truth be told, i'm barely using it. i find myself making daily 'to do' lists in a plain, lined notebook - because i need more room. right now, i'm only recording my exercise in my EC planner. i think i'm going to try using it as a food journal or something, because i'm pretty much wasting $50 right now. gonna check out the lilly. maybe lily needs the lilly :-)

  19. I had Lilly Planners while in college but now that I don't have things for each day, the EC Life Planner really works out. My normal day is mainly filled with just work so there is plenty of room in my Life Planner.

  20. I stuck with my Lilly and LOVE it. I also got the Lilly wall calendar for my office, helps to keep my Lilly planner less cluttered! One of my girlfriends however went with an Erin Condren. She had the same shipping problem you did except her's was weeks late.

  21. you know I had the exact same problem! I had always had a Lilly planner and loved it but then I saw lots of girls in my sorority with the Erin Condren planner and switched to it. I actually had a great time with the shipping and the company but I couldn't get attached to it the way I was with my Lilly planner. Needless to say I went back to my Lilly planner and am very happy with it!

  22. I actually have an EC planner and I love it! I love my Lilly planner but I seem to have too much stuff (tests, daily life events, etc) that it doesn't all fit. I
I'm sorry you had such a hassle with shipping and everything - I know that it absolutely effects your likeness of a product!
