Happy Memorial Day!

So often I take for granted the freedoms that are given to me every day, but we must never forget that these freedoms aren't "free." Thousands of men and women have fought to preserve these freedoms for us, so today, we must honor and thank them. Today, please say an extra prayer for all of the men and women who have served or are currently serving our country.

God bless America!

All Laced Up

I've been super-obsessed with lace lately, and the other day, I stumbled across this fabulous lace overlay dress Ashlee Simpson wore to an event.

I loved everything about the dress, but the price tag. I love that it still looks young and is perfect for summer. So I began the search for the perfect lace dress and found tons of great options for under $100!

Lily Boutique
I love the shape of this dress--the nipped waist flatters everyone, and it's so chic! For only $33, it's such a steal!

Piperlime--$69
This is perfect for summer, and I love the sleeves!

Suzi Chin--$74
This Suzi Chin dress is a citrus color with an ivory overlay, which makes the color a light green. It's such a unique color, I love it for spring!

Forever 21--$23
This reminds me of the first dress I posted! It's so cute, and super inexpensive!

Laundry by Shelli Segal--$88
Although this dress has longer sleeves, it's still perfect for summer, because it has the spaghetti strap underlay.

Wyatt--$87
Obviously I'm loving the longer sleeves! This one might be my favorite!

Have you seen any fabulous lace dresses lately? Hope you have a great day, and don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Planning Ahead

Even though I use the calendar on my Blackberry for reminders, I still write down everything in a daily paper agenda. I've tried so many different ones, I can't even begin to list them all! This year, I've used two different agendas: a Lilly one and an Elle and Em Desktop Planner. Although I loved the Lilly one, personally, I didn't think there was enough space for everything I needed to write. Because of the lack of space, there ended up being tons of Post-its throughout my planner, which turned it into a mess. The pictures and busyness of the planner got a little annoying, too.

When I reviewed a planner for Elle and Em, I began using that planner, and I loved that it was more plain and offered lots of room for notes and writing. However, over the past few months, it's gotten ripped, torn, wrinkled and had stuff spilled on it. Needless to say, I'm in definite need of a new planner soon.

I've been looking at different options and would love y'alls input! Here are my top choices:

Erin Condren Planner
A lot of my friends have these planners and swear by them! I love how organized everything is!

May Books Planner
I love that you get to design your own, but I've never seen one in person, so I'm not sure if there will be enough room!

Lilly Planner
If I can't find another planner I love, I may go with another Lilly planner again, even if I do have to sacrifice some room.

Gallery Leather Planner
I love how durable and sturdy this planner seems! I also love the amount of space it offers throughout.

What type of planner do you use? Which one of these would you choose? I'd love your advice/suggestions!

Monday Musings of Miss Southern Prep

Hello, lovely readers! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Mine was spent lounging around the house, hanging out with friends, and catching-up on TV shows. It was absolutely wonderful!

Today, I thought I'd share with you some of my recent finds!

May Books
I had never heard of May Books until recently, but as soon as I checked them out online, I fell in love! I love that you can design your own cover (with a monogram!) and choose what you want on the inside. I'm trying to decide whether or not to order one to use as my planner for the fall! Have any of y'all tried May Books out? I'd love to hear about your experience!

 The Shops at Target
I finally checked out the Shops this weekend and was pleasantly surprised at all of the wonderful stuff they have! I purchased this foot exfoliator and a pair of tweezers at the Cos Bar shop. I've tried out both, and love them! The exfoliator was only $6, but it works much better than pricier ones I've tried! And the tweezers, which were only $4, were just as nice as Tweezerman, in my opinion!

Old Navy Dress
I never go to Old Navy, but I stopped in on Friday, and found this adorable dress on sale for only $6! Yes, only $6--what a steal! It's kind of a burnt cinnamon color, and I think it will be fabulous with tights and Fryes in the fall!

How was your weekend? Hope you have a fabulous day!

Million Dollar Wardrobe

If money were no object, this is what I'd be adding to my wardrobe at this very moment:

A few gorgeous Birkin bags,

a vintage designer evening gown,

a strand (or two) of Chanel pearls,

several Diane von Furstenebrg wrap dresses,

Harry Winston earrings,

tons of Joe's Jeans (my favorite),

a fabulous Chanel tote and

a classic Chanel bag,

several pairs of Louboutins,

at least one Herve Leger dress,

and gorgeous Louis luggage to tote all of it in!

What would you add to your wardrobe if money were no object? Have a wonderful day!

Bubbly Yours

I know by now, most of y'all have seen the gorgeous J. Crew Bubble necklace:

I think it's the perfect necklace for spring and summer, and I just had to have one! However, I definitely could not justify spending $150 on it. So, I searched and searched for one that was cheaper and stumbled upon Karlee Dutson's blog, Bubbly Yours, where she sells look-a-likes for almost a fourth of the price!

Karlee's necklaces are only $39, which is such a steal, in my opinion! She was sweet enough to send me a necklace to review, and saying that I love it is an understatement! Karlee's necklaces come in turquoise, black, cobalt blue, coral, red, and yellow. I chose the Cobalt Blue and was thrilled when it arrived!

Doesn't it look so similar to the J. Crew one? I was so excited to wear it, and quickly paired it with chino shorts, a plain J. Crew tank, a Jackie sweater, and Jacks.

A close-up of the necklace!

I wore it out to dinner with a few friends, and I got so many compliments on it all night! Even our waiter, who was a college-aged guy, said he liked it!

I love that the necklace has three adjustable lengths, so it can be shorter or longer. I cannot wait to keep wearing this gorgeous necklace this summer, because it literally goes with anything--shorts, dresses, or skirts--and can instantly dress-up an outfit. Here's a Polyvore set, showing how else I plan to wear this necklace over the summer:

J.Crew Bubble Necklace Set

Hope you have a fabulous day!

Campus Book Rentals

When I entered my freshman year of college, I was a little clueless about how expensive textbooks were. I was definitely in for a shock when I saw how expensive all of my textbooks would be, especially the books for huge classes, like Micro and my math class. So, I decided to rent those books, which ended up saving me a huge amount of money, and made my parents so much happier (haha).

I still rent my books, if they're available, because honestly, it's so easy and so much cheaper! I literally save hundreds of dollars by renting my books each semester. Campus Book Rentals contacted me about advertising, and I totally agreed, because it's such a smart decision to rent your books! Here are some of the other benefits of renting from Campus Book Rentals:

-Save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-Free shipping both ways
-Can highlight in the textbooks (This is one of my favorite things about CBR!!)
-Largest selection in the nation
-Flexible rental periods
-They donate to Operation Smile with each book rented (Love this, too!)

I'll definitely be renting from CBR next semester! Have a wonderful day!

Summer Hair

I don't know about y'alls hair, but with all of the humidity, my hair has already been going crazy! I cannot imagine what it's going to be like when summer actually hits, so I've been pinning some easy summer hair ideas, in hopes that I can save my hair from looking like a frizzy mess! Here are some that I'm hoping to recreate:

I love the teased roots with the classic braid!

I love braids. They're so easy and effortless.

I love headbands, so this hairstyle will be easy!

You can never go wrong with the classic pony.

One of my favorites--the side braid pulled back into a bun!

What are your go-to styles for the hot summer months? Have a great day!

Hair Care

I know I've shared this before, but I have really long, thick, curly hair, and I have the hardest time finding hair products that I love. During the hot, humid months, I let my hair go curly, but during the fall, winter, and early spring, I straighten it most days. I thought I'd share some of my favorites and recent hair care finds with y'all!

Hot Tools Curling Iron

I know it's kind of weird, but I straighten my hair with a curling iron. I hate how flat a flat iron makes my roots, so I use a curling iron, which adds a lot more volume and makes my hair have more body. I have a Hot Tools curling iron in a 1 1/4' barrel, and it's perfect for loose curls or for making it straight!

Olivia Garden Ceramic+Ion Brushes

I cannot tell y'all how much I love both of these Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion brushes! They're about $15 a piece, but SO worth it. The flat brush is amazing for hair drying, and I love the round brush for doing my bangs.

Organix Moroccan Argan Oil

I bought a mini bottle of this Organix oil at Ulta a few weeks ago, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it! I blow dry my hair until it's damp, then rub about a quarter-sized dollop through the ends of my hair. It makes my hair smell amazing, controls the frizz, and makes it super-soft.

John Frieda Root Booster

This John Frieda Root Booster really works! I usually use it on my roots when I'm putting my hair into a ponytail, but want it to be a little more voluminous. I love that it's really cheap, too!

Wired

Wired is one of my go-to products for the spring and summer months. It keeps away the frizz, and makes my hair into perfect ringlets. I love it!

John Frieda Luminous Glaze

I bought this glaze at Ulta a few weeks ago and have been using it as a weekly treatment for little over a month. At first, I couldn't tell the difference in my hair, but each week, my hair has been getting shinier. The product also claims to make your hair softer, but I haven't noticed any extra softness. I was also surprised at how strong of a smell the product had--I could still smell it after washing and conditioning my hair. However, I'd definitely recommend this for the shine, if nothing else!

What's your number one go-to hair care product? Have you found any new products that you love? I'm always looking for suggestions, so I'd love to hear yours! Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
