I am so sorry that I've been a little absent lately. I finally started my summer job, and I've been super-busy juggling that, time with friends, working out, and spending time with my parents! I promise I'm going to catch-up on y'alls blogs this weekend though, and announce the winner of my Stylin' Stix monogrammed tray giveaway!
Anyway, I thought I'd show you my life lately, through the eyes of my phone:
Swimming and laying out at the pool (with a Starbucks in hand, of course!).
My new phone monogram
I saw these pink shovels outside of the grocery store the other day, and I was obsessed! How cute are they?!
Cooling off by getting frozen yogurt with the kids I babysit--this is one of the kid's cups. I just had to take a pic, because as I'm sure you can imagine, the kids were on a huge sugar-high after this!
I've been obsessed with this wrap at the pool--roasted turkey, cheese, honey mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado--SO yummy!
In Tuesday's post, I saw that a lot of y'all asked me about the book I was reading, Bitter is the New Black.
I actually won this book in a giveaway last summer, but never got around to reading it. The main character, Jen, is an exec at a communications company, making a six-figure salary and living with her boyfriend in a gorgeous penthouse apartment in Chicago. Right after 9/11, the market crashes a bit, and both Jen and her boyfriend find themselves jobless. This book is about her journey from living a plush life in the city to figuring out how to pay her electric bill in a small apartment in a terrible part of town. .
Honestly, I really wanted to like this book. The main character is witty and funny, but sometimes, she is just mean and extremely narcissistic. I felt like I just couldn't connect with her, at all, and the only parts I enjoyed were when she was describing her very fashionable ensembles (think David Yurman, Prada, Ralph Lauren, and Kate Spade). It wasn't the worst book I've ever read, but I don't think I'd recommend it.
The other day, I started American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld, the author of Prep, and I'm loving it! It's a novel based on the life of Laura Bush, and I just think it's so interesting. However, it's not very flattering of Charlie Blackwell, the husband of the main character, who's based on George W. Bush. I'll do a full review next week, though!
Hope all is well with my wonderful readers! Do y'all have any exciting plans this weekend? Hope you have a fabulous Friday, and don't forget to enter my giveaway!
