To Blackberry or to iPhone?

Ok, so I know this debate might seem crazy to some of you iPhone lovers, but I'm due for a phone upgrade in July, and I cannot decide which phone to get!

Right now, I have a Blackberry Curve, and although some people hate theirs, I absolutely love mine! I tend to be a little rough on my phones, so I love that this one has been pretty unbreakable for the past 2 years. The only negatives would be the slow internet and lack of apps.

Most of my friends have the iPhone, and honestly, I'm not dying for one, but I feel like I might need a technological upgrade! I love all of the apps for the iPhone, but if I decide to get it, I'm going to have to get an ugly case so it doesn't break when I drop it multiple times a day.

What do y'all think I should do? Did any of y'all abandon your Crackberry for an iPhone? I'd love to hear your opinions! Have a fabulous day!

Happy Wednesday!

A while ago, I went on a rant about my Dell computer and blogged about wanting a new laptop. I think I'm finally going to get a new computer this summer, a MacBook, so of course, I've been shopping around for some cute new laptop accessories! I usually carry my laptop with me to the library, so a laptop case is a must. The case I used for my Dell was just plain pink, so I've been looking for a cute new sleeve! Here are my top favorites:

Which one do you like best? Do you have any tips on where to find a cute laptop sleeve?

Last week, I told y'all that I was reading American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld, and I finally finished it this weekend. If you haven't heard of it, you can read a synopsis here

Overall, I really loved this book, except the ending. It started out a bit slow, and if you've read Laura Bush's book, Spoken From the Heart, you'll notice several similarities between the two. The President and First Lady, Charlie and Alice Blackwell are obviously based on former President and Mrs. Bush, so sometimes, it was hard to separate the characters from their real life counterparts. It also kind of annoyed me how badly the author portrayed President Blackwell, and the ending was terrible. It ended a bit abruptly, and I thought the ending changed my perception of the main character, too. However, I really loved this book and would definitely recommend it!

Next, I'm reading Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes! What are y'all reading right now? Have a wonderful day, and don't forget to enter my giveaway--it ends tomorrow night at midnight!

Life Lately

I am so sorry that I've been a little absent lately. I finally started my summer job, and I've been super-busy juggling that, time with friends, working out, and spending time with my parents! I promise I'm going to catch-up on y'alls blogs this weekend though, and announce the winner of my Stylin' Stix monogrammed tray giveaway!

Anyway, I thought I'd show you my life lately, through the eyes of my phone:

Swimming and laying out at the pool (with a Starbucks in hand, of course!).

My new phone monogram

I saw these pink shovels outside of the grocery store the other day, and I was obsessed! How cute are they?!

Cooling off by getting frozen yogurt with the kids I babysit--this is one of the kid's cups. I just had to take a pic, because as I'm sure you can imagine, the kids were on a huge sugar-high after this!

I've been obsessed with this wrap at the pool--roasted turkey, cheese, honey mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado--SO yummy!
In Tuesday's post, I saw that a lot of y'all asked me about the book I was reading, Bitter is the New Black

I actually won this book in a giveaway last summer, but never got around to reading it. The main character, Jen, is an exec at a communications company, making a six-figure salary and living with her boyfriend in a gorgeous penthouse apartment in Chicago. Right after 9/11, the market crashes a bit, and both Jen and her boyfriend find themselves jobless. This book is about her journey from living a plush life in the city to figuring out how to pay her electric bill in a small apartment in a terrible part of town. .

Honestly, I really wanted to like this book. The main character is witty and funny, but sometimes, she is just mean and extremely narcissistic. I felt like I just couldn't connect with her, at all, and the only parts I enjoyed were when she was describing her very fashionable ensembles (think David Yurman, Prada, Ralph Lauren, and Kate Spade). It wasn't the worst book I've ever read, but I don't think I'd recommend it.

The other day, I started American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld, the author of Prep, and I'm loving it! It's a novel based on the life of Laura Bush, and I just think it's so interesting. However, it's not very flattering of Charlie Blackwell, the husband of the main character, who's based on George W. Bush. I'll do a full review next week, though!

Hope all is well with my wonderful readers! Do y'all have any exciting plans this weekend? Hope you have a fabulous Friday, and don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Giveaway: be.designs

A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon be.designs, an adorable shop full of home decor, gifts, furniture, jewelry, and a monogram shop--heaven! Seriously, I love every single item I see online, and it's even better that there's a whole section on the site dedicated to a monogram shop!

The owner, Amy, says that each product in her shop is "carefully curated to enlighten your senses, make you smile, and express your unique sense of self." She carefully blends beautiful, unique pieces for the home, pets, gifts, or yourself. The prices are extremely reasonable, and you can find tons of different gifts at be.designs--wedding gifts, personalized gifts, gifts for the home, candles, puppy gifts, and even a gift or two for yourself! Here are some of the things I'm lusting over:

LOVE this monogrammed pillow! There are tons of different designs and colors to chose from!

The perfect preppy tote.

This statement necklace is fabulous and is such a steal at only $40!

I think this nautical mirror would be so cool in a beach house.

If only my puppy were a girl, I would most certainly buy her the pink and green Sailors Knot collar!

As I'm sure you can tell, I just love Amy's shop and everything in it! Now on to the giveaway part--Amy has graciously offered to giveaway one of her gorgeous monogrammed platters to one of my fabulous readers!

Aren't they gorgeous? The winner will get to choose the pattern of her choice, and then Amy will customize the platter with your monogram! If I could win, I think I'd chose this platter:

Today, I'm planning on having a relaxing day laying out at the club,

ordering a Diet Coke and my favorite salad from the pool bar (spinach, goat cheese, pecans, and cranberries),

finishing up a book,

watching a few episodes of Gossip Girl,

browsing some of my favorite stores online,

having dinner with two of my best friends at our favorite Mexican place,

and watching Part I of the Real Housewives of OC finale.

What are you doing today? Hope you have a great day!

Review: Eclectic Ornaments

Have y'all ever heard of the Etsy shop Eclectic Ornaments? Described by Rae, the owner, as "fresh eclectic jewelry with imagination," the shop is full of gorgeous handmade jewelry. Because each piece is made-to-order, your necklace is super unique.

Rae was gracious enough to send me one of her best-selling necklaces, the Huge Double Strand Briolette Bib Statement Necklace. When ordering, you can decide on the color of the spacers (silver, gold, matte gold, or bronze), and on the color of the ties! This necklace comes in so many different colors, it's wonderful to have options to make it even more individual!

I decided on the Huge Double Strand Briolette Bib Statement Necklace in hot pink, because I love pink, and you might remember that I wrote about being obsessed with statement necklaces in the past. I tend to wear more silver, so I went with silver spacers and white ties, so they'd go with everything.

The necklace came in a cute box with a bow around it, perfect for gift-giving!

I wore this necklace to a dinner with friends at a sushi place I love and then to a party. Because you tie the necklace, you can adjust the length based on what you're wearing! I love that I can easily make it short or long. One of my favorite things about this necklace is that the white ties are washable! So if they get dirty, you can just pull them off and throw them in the wash--so perfect for moms of young kids!

This is how I wore the necklace:

[Dress: TJ Maxx, Cardigan: J.Crew Jackie Cardigan in Azalea, Shoes: Jack Rogers, Bracelet and Ring: David Yurman]

I love, love, love this necklace and Rae's shop! This necklace is perfect for summer, and I'm sure it will be making an appearance on several occasions this season. I got so many compliments on it, I might just order another color later this summer!

Here are some of my other favorites from Rae's shop:

This reminds me of the famous J.Crew Bubble necklace!

Love the clear!

The turquoise is SUCH a pretty color, and the flower is so fun!

Isn't this shop so wonderful?! Have a terrific day, and don't forget to enter my giveaway, it ends tonight at midnight!!

I usually try to keep this blog upbeat and often don't share things that are too personal, but today, I just need to vent.

This past year, there were a lot of changes going on at my school--a lot of my friends transferring, rules changing, my major department being reorganized--and I decided that it was time for a change. I normally hate change more than anything, but sometimes, it can be a good thing. For those of y'all who don't know, I attended a small, private liberal arts school in the South, but I just wasn't in love with it.

So, I decided to take some time to just clear my head, apply to different schools, and decide what I wanted to do. I wasn't sure if I'd actually transfer, but after applying to a few different schools, I finally decided to attend a large SEC school that I was looking at during high school.

Although I'm SO nervous, things have started to fall into place. One of my friends who goes to school there is going to get an apartment with me, not all of my credits will transfer, but the blessing is that I can still rush, which I've been looking forward to, and I already have a group of friends who attend school there.

This whole experience has reminded me that sometimes change can be a good thing, and I cannot wait to start this next part of my life!

Sorry for such a serious post today, I just needed to vent! Hope y'all have a fabulous weekend, and don't forget to enter my giveaway

Dear Dad

If you're like me, you've thought of some gift options for your dad's Fathers Day Gift, but haven't actually purchased one yet! I'm planning on going shopping for my Dad's gift on Friday, but it shouldn't take too long, since I've narrowed down what I think I'm going to get him. In case you're still looking for gifts, here are some suggestions:

  • Subscription to a Beer of the Month Club
  • A watch--To earn extra brownie points, have the back engraved!
  • A subscription to his favorite magazine
  • A sweet treat from his favorite local bakery
  • A new golf bag or new golf clubs
  • L'Occitane Cade Shaving Duo--My dad LOVES this stuff, and since he normally wouldn't buy it himself, either my brother or I try to give it to him for holidays, so he always has it!
  • A new baseball cap--I'm loving this bright blue VV hat for summer!
  • An iPod shuffle with some of his favorite songs already downloaded on it
  • A giftcard to his favorite coffee or lunch place
  • A new tie/bow tie from his favorite store
  • A nice new leather wallet
What are you getting your Dad for Father's Day? Any other suggestions? Have a great day, and don't forget to enter my giveaway

Steel Magnolias For Sale

One of my all time favorite movies is Steel Magnolias. I still remember the first time I saw it, I think I was 15 or 16, but I was seriously obsessed. I loved Julia Roberts and for some reason, I loved her faux-Southern accent, too. I think I made my mom watch it with me again at least three or four times just that week haha! So when I heard that M'Lynn and Drum's house (the house where Shelby is married) was actually for sale, I had to check it out!

The house, which is located in Natchitoches, Louisiana, was converted into a Bed and Breakfast, and has 6 bedrooms and 6.5 baths. It can be all yours for just $1.175 million!

The real house for sale

How it looked in the movie!

Isn't this porch just amazing?!?!

It looks like the producers left a lot of the interior alone, when shooting, because some of the rooms look exactly the same!

Shelby's pink striped bedroom is a guest room in the B&B!

The producers left the gorgeous front staircase the same, which we see when M'Lynn is preparing the house for Shelby's wedding.

LOVE the brick wall in the kitchen.

Although I'm not sure a move to Louisiana is in my future, I would LOVE to go visit this B&B and see where Steel Magnolias was made! And if you haven't seen this movie, you must watch it (it's on Instant Watch on Netflix)! Hope you have a fabulous day, and don't forget to enter my giveaway
